Hormones Through Life
Why Don't I Feel Like Myself Anymore?
If you've found yourself wondering why you're suddenly exhausted, waking during the night, feeling more emotional than usual, struggling with brain fog, gaining weight despite doing all the right things or simply not feeling like yourself, you're not imagining it.
One of the most common things we hear from women is:
"I don't know what's wrong. I just don't feel like me anymore."
The challenge is that many of the symptoms women experience throughout life are often viewed in isolation. Headaches. Poor sleep. Fatigue. Mood changes. Aches and pains. Changes in strength or energy.
But often they're connected.

Hormones Influence More Than You Think
Hormones play a role in almost every system of the body.
They influence sleep, mood, energy, metabolism, muscle mass, bone health, stress resilience, brain function and even the way we experience pain.
That's why hormonal changes can sometimes show up in unexpected ways.
For some women it's PMS, headaches or changes in their cycle. For others it may be fertility challenges, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, peri-menopause or menopause.
Many women notice changes in energy, sleep, recovery, concentration, body composition or simply how resilient they feel compared to a few years ago.
The reality is that women spend much of their lives adapting to changing hormones, yet very few are taught what those changes may mean for their health and wellbeing.

Women Are Constantly Adapting
One thing we know for certain is that women are constantly adapting.
The body you had as a teenager isn't the same body you have in your twenties. Pregnancy changes your body. Becoming a mother changes your body. Peri-menopause changes your body. Menopause changes your body.
Some of those changes are obvious. Others are far more subtle.
You may notice changes in your energy, sleep, mood, concentration, recovery, strength or the way your body responds to stress. You might find yourself wondering why things that once felt easy suddenly feel harder, or why your body seems to be asking for something different than it did a few years ago.
Hormonal changes don't just influence your cycle. They influence the way your muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons and nervous system function as well.
Sometimes those changes show up as poor sleep, headaches, fatigue or changes in mood. Other times they show up in the way your body moves, recovers, adapts and responds to the demands of everyday life.

Peri-Menopause & Menopause: More Than Hot Flushes
When most people think about menopause, they think about hot flushes.
But for many women, the changes run much deeper than that.
As oestrogen levels decline, women may notice changes in muscle mass, bone density, strength, recovery, sleep, mood and the way their body responds to physical and emotional stress.
Many women are surprised to learn that hormonal changes can also influence joints, tendons and connective tissues. Increased stiffness, unexplained aches and pains, slower recovery from exercise and conditions such as frozen shoulder become more common during this stage of life.
Research now recognises a musculoskeletal syndrome of menopause, with approximately 71% of perimenopausal women experiencing musculoskeletal pain.
The challenge is that many women don't connect these changes back to hormones. Instead, they assume they're getting older, becoming less fit or simply need to put up with it.
We don't believe that's the whole story.

Helping You Feel Like You Again
One of the hardest things about hormonal change is that it often doesn't happen overnight.
You don't wake up one morning and suddenly feel different.
Instead, things gradually start to shift. You might notice you're not sleeping as well, recovering as quickly, coping with stress the way you used to or feeling as strong and energetic as before.
And because these changes happen slowly, many women assume it's just something they need to put up with.
We disagree.
At The Bod Squad, we're passionate about helping women understand what's happening in their bodies and giving them practical strategies to navigate each stage of life with confidence.
That might mean helping a pregnant woman stay comfortable as her body changes. Supporting a new mum as she recovers and adapts to life with a baby. Helping a woman in her 40s make sense of the changes that often accompany peri-menopause. Or helping someone in midlife build strength, improve mobility and support bone health for the decades ahead.
Through Chiropractic care and nutrition support, we look at the whole picture. Your movement. Your sleep. Your stress. Your strength. Your nervous system. Your lifestyle.
Because our goal isn't simply to help you get through the next stage of life.
It's to help you feel informed, capable and excited about what's ahead.
