Many people attending our clinic for the first time like to have some knowledge of what to expect. So here are the answers to some commonly asked questions.
How long will my first chiropractic appointment be?
Your initial appointment will be scheduled for 30 minutes. However, we do ask that you arrive 10-15 minutes before your first appointment, so that you can complete our new patient form. This paperwork helps our chiropractors determine your diagnosis and an appropriate treatment regime. Of course, if arriving earlier is not convenient, we can have the form emailed to you so that you can complete it beforehand.
Do I need to fill-in lots of forms?
No, we promise! There are just a couple of forms that need to be completed prior to commencing treatment. These forms give our chiropractors important information about your presenting complaint, your general health and any other health issues that may be of relevance to your safe and effective treatment (including medications, previous accidents and surgeries).
Do I need to have X-Rays first?
Not necessarily. While x-rays are a valuable tool in determining a diagnosis, not all patients require them. Every patient at our clinic is assessed individually and if our chiropractors decide an x-ray would be beneficial prior to or during your treatment, they will refer you to a registered x-ray clinic convenient to you.
Do I need to undress during my treatment?
It is rare that patients need to remove clothing for a treatment. If accessing the area of pain is limited due to its location or restrictive clothing, patients are given a gown to wear (if they feel more comfortable).
Will hands-on treatment be provided on the initial consult?
We always aim to provide some chiropractic treatment during your initial consult, so as to minimise the symptoms you have presented with (particularly if you’re in pain). This is not, however, always possible or advisable. If you require further investigations prior to commencing treatment, you will be referred to the appropriate person or service.
Do I need to pay on the day of my appointment?
As we do not provide accounts, it is expected that payment will be made on the day of your appointment. We have Hicaps and Eftpos facilities, so private health insurance members can claim on the day.
How much will my appointment cost and how much will I get back from my health fund?
To find out treatment costs, please call our helpful front desk staff at the clinic on 84319100 – they can then determine whether you are entitled to any of our special rates, such as those for children or retirees.
Naturally, the amount you will receive back from your health fund varies based on your fund and your level of chiropractic provider with BUPA, so our patients receive the maximum they can claim through this fund. If you would like more information, please contact your health fund directly.
Where abouts are you?
We’re located in the lovely suburb of Norwood on the eastern city fringe of Adelaide.
Is there parking available?
There is limited parking at the back of the clinic but you will find plenty available on the surrounding streets including Ravenswood Avenue and The Parade.
If you have a question we have not answered here, please do not hesitate to call the clinic on 84319100. We look forward to meeting you in the clinic soon.
